The Condition Our Condition Is In
As of this writing, both newcomers to a craft and established artisans must waste precious time tracking down what they need to produce their art. And even more time finding customers to buy it from them.
Someone needs to change that.
Someone needs to take the burdens of tracking down resources and finding customers off artisan’s shoulders.
Someone needs to connect all segments of their particular industry – from manufacturer to end user – so they can do what they love & do best : create their art.
Someone needs to …
Someone …
But who ? …
Why not US ??? …
Why not indeed?
We’ve experienced the frustration caused by wasting time looking for materials & supplies which proved to be incredibly close by.
We’ve spent countless hours researching, booking, and traveling to and from craft markets and other venues our customers hang out.
More important, however, is that we have the knowledge, ability, and experience to solve the problems.
So, we’re going to solve the problem !
Our Vision :
We envision a world in which all artisans – especially those just starting out – can quickly & easily find and connect with the local suppliers of the materials and supplies they need to produce their art, and be found as quickly & easily by their potential customers.
Our Mission :
Our mission is to connect all segments of the global handicrafts industries with each other; from the manufactures of the materials and supplies needed to produce handcrafted goods, to the end user who purchases them.
We will start with the global leather industry and those closely associated with it, and build out from there.
Our Methods :
We will accomplish our mission by building, maintaining, and running an enterprise level web hub which includes :
-
- a global resource directory in which artisans can find local suppliers and other resources, AND in which they themselves can be found quickly and easily by potential customers;
- a private, members only social community in which members can meet & discuss business and other topics; and
- forums in which members can discuss topics of interest to those in their segments of the leather and closely related industries.
The Three Stages of Building Akweks
There are three distinct stages in building the dream which is Akweks. The first has been accomplished.
Stage One :
The current, 8 domain web hub and its akweksDIRECTORY is the first stage in building our dream of an enterprise level web hub which enables artisans and others to quickly & easily make the connections they need to do business in their segment of the global leather industry.
Stage Two :
The next stage is to move the akweksHUB from its current shared server to a dedicated server with the resources needed to run smoothly without interruptions caused by being on a shared server or exceeding the band width allocated to the hub.
This stage also entails securing 2 or 3 years of dedicated hosting, and the outside tech support required to keep the akweksHUB running smoothly 24/7.
Stage Three :
The final stage will be to hire a web developer who specializes in building robust enterprise level web hubs , and have them build a robust, rock solid site that will meet the demands of our users for years to come.
Help Us Build the Dream : jumpSTART Akweks
Frankly, Stage Three probably can’t be done without help. Even if it can, it will take a long time. Time which will have problems that will be avoided once we get to Stage Three.
Which is why we’ve created our private crowd funding campaign jumptSTART Akweks.
